Weird starting issue...

Ok - I've been having this weird starting issue (and yes, I searched but didn't find a match to this):

Couple times in the morning, the car won't start.

The car has enough power to turn over (and not sluggishly like a dead battery), but won't run.

There's a loud, rapid clicking from the driver's side dash when it does that. One time, I turned the car off, got out, grabbed something, came back and it started right up. Other times, it just sits and has this rapid clicking noise.

I think a relay's going bad somewhere. Question is, any ideas on which one?

wel not sure about that relay,because if it does crank sometime and not start,its not the relay,,if the car start sometime i would start at checking the plugs,maybe they are worn out,,on non starting moments,check immidiatelly for a spark to see if the coils are working,if not check crank shaft sensor and control module. any way good luck.

I'm thinking a fuel pump relay more than a starter relay. It cranks all the time, just doesn't catch.

when you hear the clicking noise, is the engine still turning over?

im a bit confused here

It's clicking with the ignition switch turned to "on", don't recall if it's that way when it's on "start".

bad battery. My starter made the same sound right after I got done with my turbo build. I thought I effed something royally but it turns out the battery was reallllly low.

:edit: My bad, i didn't read the above post. It's clicking when you just turn it to on?

Yes - the clicking seems to come from the dash, and it spins well when trying to start. It's not all the time, either. I just started it this morning, no problem.
