  • Firebird Headlight Issue

I am having a problem with my right side headlight. When I turn on the headlights for the first time of the day the right headlight does not go up. What I do then is turn the lights off, open the hood, rotate the right side headlight motor knob about 1 turn and shut the hood. At that point the headlight will open normally. It will also operate fine for the rest of that day. Then the next day it starts all over again.

From what I understand, the right side motor is closing slightly too far and that is why it will not open.

My question is, is there any adjustment to fix this.

      Actually it was not fixed...

      Now it is finally fixed...

After months of screwing around with it I gave up. There are all sorts of tricks posted on the web and none of them worked.

Ebay used headlight motor did the trick. Installed today and so far good as new.

      $49.95 with free shipping.

It's funny, because the gear never became stripped. The motor just kept getting hung up somehow internally. Through the entire problem I never had that notorious grinding sound.
