in reality they could be. water just bypassing the head gasket. the only true way to tell is have them magged or pressure tested.

Water pump will leak sometimes when it goes bad from a small hole on it , if it is up further then look into the intakes,TB and heads. Also the lower coolant plastic pipe and hoses.

I've been running cool for the past week (not having to add more coolant), however on my current drive home from work since I had the heater on low I could smell coolant. 15min ago I got home and parked only to notice a small stream of cooling coming from under the car. I popped the hood and haven't been quite sure where the leak is coming from.
Would bad gaskets cause a leak this bad? Or would a bad pump be more telling? Again it's not spilling a bunch just a very slight leak causing a small puddle to run down the incline of my driveway. I logged on to find a thread telling me where the water pump is (can't find my book at the moment) and my thread was the first that it returned.
Thanks again for all the help.
UPDATE OK so after changing clothes I just went back outside to see if I could get a better look. After finding my Haynes book and locating where exactly my water pump was located I went back outside turned the car on and popped the hood. Once the temp got ~210 I smelled coolant again and went to have a look under the hood. That's when I saw the water pump squirting out little bits of coolant. I'm hopeful I have finally tracked down my issue, I'll be at the shop first thing in the morning to drop that bad boy off and have a new water pump put in. I'm praying this is the end of my coolant issues.
OHH fyi I also checked the oil dipstick and am very happy to report the motor oil does not have any traces of coolant. I'll check back in next week after I've had the pumped replaced and ran the car for a while to report my status.
A water pump isn't hard at all to replace dude, don't remember how many bolts, but it's not many. Just remove your belt using the tensioner pulley, jack your car up, drain your radiator fluid (you don't want this on you when you pull the pump), get under there, remove the pump, replace the new one ($30-$40), dunno if it comes with a gasket but that's only $5. Once done fill her back up with fluid, put your belt back on and start the puppy up. Less than $50 to fix, if you take it to a shop it'll cost a good $150 - $250 to replace it. Anyways, glad you figured it out....pretty much knew it was a water pump from your first post...didn't have to read any of the other posts.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
