  • 160 t-stat???

I bought a 160 t-stat form autozone a few weeks ago, and I got to thinking about it after I threw away the reciept, is it really worth it to put one in on a nearly stock car. Btw, its made by Mr Gasket, it says its for gm ford and amc. Do you guys think that would work???

Yeah, my brain was telling me to get a 180, but I ended up grabbing the 160 for some reason

yea....160 you will also need to tune the fans to come on.....180 really doesnt need any tweaking, but you really should get the fans to come on sooner.

EDIT: Although this guy disagrees with the 180 for DDing: http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=95720

But Ive heard people who installed a 180, didnt tune the fans and DDed and had no problems.

i DD mine and have a 180* installed with the slp manual fan switch and no tune yet. works great with no problems and keeps the temps down, and the fan is great for traffic and city driving with lots of stops. u should be fine.

              Re: 160 t-stat???

I also run a drilled 160 t-stat with the low fans at 170 and high fans to come on at 180 and stay on until 160 which will never happen in AZ summer so the high fans will be on most of the time when I'm driving to keep it cooler.
