Don't ever change your oil cold. You need to run the engine for a bit to get things circulating, and also to get a coating of oil on the engine parts. Because when you put that new filter on and start it up, there are a few seconds with no oil pressure, even if you fill the filter with oil before installing it. Once I tried a cold-oil change on a different car. When I started it up, it sounded awful until the oil pressure built up. It didn't seem to cause any damage, but it sounded horrendous.
I just drive it around for 10 mins or so to get it warmed up, but not boiling hot.
