My fuel gauge is going crazy. It reads full almost all the time. When I start the car and let it idle for a few minutes the "check gauges" light will come on and the fuel gauge will read empty, but when I start to drive it for a few minutes the dummy light will go away and my fuel gauge will start to climb until it reads full again.
My question is if this could just be as simple as replacing a sensor? Or if it is the fuel level sending unit?
How big a job will it be? I just need an idea. Thanks for any help.
It's probably the Fuel Sending unit, which is part of the fuel pump module. You have to remove the tank or cut an access hole in the sheet metal behing the back seat. The module is pretty expensive to replace also.
