  • Temp fluctuation after system flush?! Water out of tails...

According to the temp gauge the car normally runs at 170* ~ 175*, after the flush it went all the way up to 210* and then back down to 170*. Whats this all about? Is the temp gauge acting funny? Thermo get stuck? I also had a little water come out of the tail pipes! Whats going on there??? I know that when I had my 99' Camaro and my 2000 Bird it was always at 210*

Help me out here guys, I'm a bit scared!

Did you bleed the air out of the coolant system? The temp will fluctuate a little after a flush, but this is typically from air bubbles in the system. You might also need to add a little over the next couple of weeks. Just be sure to watch the levels and make sure it's not going anywhere.

Water coming out of pipes could just be condensation.

Im not completely sure how to bleed out the air, I just opened the screw for bit off and on. Reved her up a bit to drop the level to fit a bit more AF. So I suppose I do more of the same over next couple of weeks or is there a different way to bleed out the air?

Shouldnt the temp be a lot higher though?

What about the water coming out of the exhaust?

Think you need a "bleed" key...not 100% though...

was it pouring out the exhaust? could have a cracked block...hope to god not though...

if it was just dripping out that's just condensation and it's normal... (freaked me out too after my head job) (yeah I said head job) :P

Yeah I don't know of any way you can fudge up a block from changing the radiator fluid... if your worried check your oil see if any thing is a light brown on the dipstick...

the catalyst produces water, pretty much all tail pipes will drip water, depending the humidity and time of day it could produce less or more...

I'm guessing it's not "pouring" out, so I don't think you have to worry...just bleed your system...

start the engine, let it warm up, turn the bleeder screw and wait until a stream of water comes out with no bubbles, fill the rad up, and do that a few more times.

the water in the tailpipes is just condensation, no need to worry about that

what thermo did you put in there?

what kind of coolant did you use?

my car rarely hits 200 unless im sitting in traffic on a hot day, and i have a stock temp. thermo

i noticed when i got rid of dexcool and used the green stuff my car runs a bit cooler now

Didnt put one in. I was wondering if it was a possibility that the last person put one in (160*)...

All 98+ cars Ive seen run at 210,,, always....

Im using el cheapo AF, hasnt gone above 170* since our initial fluctuation.

installed a 160 in mine a while back and on the highway it sits about 160-180, but when stopped in traffic during rush hour it pegs 210. Sucks balls...

How does that suck? Does anything happen with the car at 210? As far as Ive always known the PCM tries to make the car run at 210, therefor trying to run rich to warm her up. Anyone know what the stock thermo is rated at?

Well...I have no AC...so sitting in the SUN with traffic all around me and their heat coming from their cars and the heat coming from my engine makes it a damn cooker in my car. Feel like I'm in a concentration camp. (no offense, just saying)

                          I think it's 195 stock...
