I would test it anyway just to see what it's at. But what I was saying earlier was that when it's refusing to start, that's when you must test the spark and fuel pressure to see which one's missing. Then you know which system is causing the problem. It will be a PITA to diagnose since it's intermittent. You'll have to be ready at any time to do the testing, be it in your driveway, or in a parking lot.

so had a chance to let the car run for awhile and it looks as if the smoking pretty much went away after it heated up. noext thing i have to do i guess is keep an eye on the voltage and make sure my battery stays charged, if it doesnt i will probably move onto replacing those big 3 wires.

This is something that everybody overlooks. Almost all cars have fusible links on the positve side. The running and complete shut off thing is a hint that you are losing all battery power (momentarily). If you live in a northern climate where they use salt on the roadways, salt can eat a fusible link to the point of quitting under load, then coming back when it cools down. I have replaced faulty fusible links in the past, although rarely. The alarm/remote start is the other possibility.
The key is total loss of electrical power. You are getting a complete disconnect from the battery. The other thing you may check: Side post terminals. I have seen where they look good when you take them off, but under the bolt head there is corrosion. This screws you up every time. Look at them closely. I am pretty sure all of the other components in your car will not cause a complete power loss to ALL of the electrical system.
Oh, one last thing - BIG music stuff can overload regular wiring. Usually eveyone runs a separate power supply cable to components. I've seen people tap off of electrical sources that are too weak causing problems. I haven't seen any of this metioned earlier, just some suggestions.

          Thx mad max,
that def. makes sense. I didnt inspect the connections TOO much when i took out the battery, just kinda looked them over, but i drove the car once this weekend and to work today and have not had any more issues yet. i will be sure to check that though.

The audio stuff has been in there for a long time and never caused any issues, although its not that big of a setup (considering), i have 2 amps, 1-500w and 1-200w. So a faulty connection seems likely.
