Ok, here is my problem. When I turn on my AC, it makes my tach and speedometer freak out. They start bouncing around and the speedometer settles out around 35 mph at idle with the car out of gear.
Also, if I turn on the AC with the headlights on, the lights dim and start to pulse like a motorcycle.
This sounds like a regulator problem. I just had pretty much the same thing happen on my Merc. minivan. Changed the battery, alternator twice each and the problem still manifested. Put it in the shop and it ended up being a battery cable.
On this one, it sounds like the drain from the A/C (pulls a lot of amps) and the lighting is causing the instruments to act in an erratic manner. My van did the identical thing. I'm leaning towards that alternator for starts.
Hope you get it settled... I know my situation was a real pain. Blessings...
