  • Lots O Problems

My car was over heating , and i drove it hot for a short time. I figured out that my water pump went out. Now when I drive I can see and smell coolant burning. I think i blew a head gaset. So I got a compression tester and put it in place of my spark plug and its reading 0 (Did I do the compression test wrong ?) , I researched and its supposed to be about 150 . And when I try to drive my car feels like it has no power. I put the car in drive and my transmission barely moves. I give the car gas to like 3000 rpm and the car inches . Is my tranny out now ? My car has 168,XXX miles Need info and help bad

if you are getting 0, you are obviously doing the test wrong

how exactly did you do the compression test?

I took out the spark plug and put in the adapter , attached the hose that has the compresion gauge and started my car

        does the gauge still work?

i would imagine starting the car with it in would break it

you are suppose to take all of the spark plugs out, disable the ignition, open your throtle body all of the way, and crank the car for about 5 seconds

              Re: Lots O Problems

i would just pull the plugs/wires and make sure they cant arc anywhere

then just jam something in the throttle body or stick something on the pedal if you have a 98 and below car

my guess is that you may have broken the gauge starting the car up with it on

Also, you should disable your fuel pump. On mine (2000), I removed the relay for the fuel pump and I unplugged the icm connector. When you say you started your car with the gauge hooked up, you don't mean the car was actually running do you?

thats the way i took it, im betting if he didnt pull the fuse for the fuel pump and left the other plugs in, he just bought himself a new, broken compression gauge

oil looks good not milky and coolant levels were good.

well, then your gaskets are fine and not the cause of you overheating and performance loss. Do you still have the original cat on the car?
