If the oil is good and water and no smoking , I wouldn't go straight for the head gasket, Smoke is right you need to bleed your coolant system, check the thermo , fan fuses to make sure the fans are working fine, check CAT. While checking fuses on mine I found my fan fuse had blown and wasn't working(don't know for how long since it is winter here )really heated up for being colder in AZ to like 200 sometimes(180 normal), if it was summer time it would of over heated but that just shows you it could be something minor and always start least epensive to most. It will save you money in the end.
