    Re: Strange rattle

nm, I see you say "park"...so I'm guessing it's "auto"...

well I was going to say throw out bearing...they make a rattling twirling sound when a gear is engaged...in neutral and with the clutch in no noise...

track the location down...where is it the loudest...maybe it's in your drive train?

      Re: Strange rattle

Whatever it is, stops rattling in Park or Neutral because the load is taken off the engine, so it runs a little smoother. I would suggest getting under there when it's cooled down and banging on the cat with your hand to see if there is any noise. it could be a heat shield which is easy to fix, or it may be the catalyst, which isn't so easy to fix. also check other things by moving them around, banging on them a little. If you have someone you trust, have them put it in Drive and hold the brake while you look and listen under there. Just be real careful.

I would also check those Y-pipe bolts and the Y-pipe where the pipe-in-a-pipe is.

tmc, have you tracked this down? Mine just started doing exactly the same thing. In Park or neutral even revving it there's nothing. The second it's under load it rattles like crazy. I already removed the cat shield so that can be ruled out. It sounds like it's coming from the cat but that was just replaced and it's stock so I'm curious if you solved it what it was.

Don't assume that just bc parts have been replaced recently that they are okay...

Tried checking the clamp that connects the S-pipe and I-pipe? For some reason mine likes to break the welds there. It causes a load rattle under low rpm load and can sometimes be heard while idling.
