I have a 2000 V6 Camaro. I bought new tires on it a few months ago and was surprised that mine had 235s on it, which are wider than what was supposed to be standard.
Was there a performance package for the v6 in 2000? If so, what other performance enhancements were there other than extra wide tires?
I've been looking around on the internet for a while but i can't find any information on it

you'll, no doubt, get replies about performance package options that were available for your car. but you should know that the 55-series tires (235/55/16) was an option that didn't require any performance package.
are you talking about the y87 performance package. think 3.42 gears instead of the 3.08's Limited slip diff and quicker turn ratio rack/pinion steering same as in v8's
someone correct me if im wrong

i have a 2000 maro and looked into why it had 235s on it and found that from the dealer it was just luck of the draw on the v6s but both the 215 and 235s are o.e. sizes on the v8s and 6's.
yeah its called the Y87 performance package. check your RPO code sticker on the side of your drivers door to see if you've got the Y87 code, if you do, your cars got it
is the y87 the same for the birds? i thought it was w68? maybe they're the same...one chevy one pontiac?
my '00 bird came with the 235/55/16's too, but not the chrome rims, just the grey 5 spokes. i've also got the gfx kit, but i'm missing the front ones. they've been removed (previous owner) and now i'm trying to find replacements.
thank you pace (at least 1/2 the post), i didn't realize they did different codes for the performance and appearance.
the "search" is fine 'old cranky ones, relax. it wasn't a dire matter that i needed to search for it....give it a rest. i was just making conversion and thought someone would know off the tops of their head.
maybe i'll keep my post limited to other sections. people are cranky around here....
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
