  • Did something really wrong, desperately need help

    Hi all,

Problem: Check Gauges light is on, Oil pressure is reading 0, SES light is on but has been because of a "Catalytic Coverter low flow" error, engine runs as normal without any unusual sounds or performance issues.

What I did today: Attempted to install a motorvation throttle body spacer. Long story short, broke a bolt, had to drill it out, put everything back together without the spacer.

Might be important: The vacuum hose boot that's attached to the TB is rotted and slightly split.

Any help is appriciated, even though the engine sounds fine, I'm really afraid to move the car.

    Thanks all!

    Info:
1998 Firebird, auto, 105k miles. Oil changed last week, new filter, PCV valve changed last spring. No oil on ground, dipstick reads fine.

Check the plug on the oil pressure sending unit. It's just above the oil filter.

Ok, thanks guys, will do. It's dark here already, so I have to wait until morning.

Ok, I got out a light and checked. Right above the oil filter there's a wire that leads into a cylindrical part. That part is snapped in half, I took it off and secured the wire.

Is it safe to drive until I get that part? Anyone have any clue what you use to get that part off? It's bigger than any wrench I've seen, and it's so rusted it's scary.

          Thanks all!

It may leak oil if it is broken too far down. They make a socket for oil pressure sending units or you can use a adjustable wrench.
