    Battery Relocation Kit

    Well, my battery tray broke, and the battery could actually be lifted out of the car ... Tech passed me -after- I went to Sam's Club, bribed someone with $20 to buy me a $17 (he kept change) set of tie-downs, and used one wrapped like 3-4 times around the batter, the headlight mounts, etc ... what a mess ...

    Instead of buying a new battery tray or modding this one to accept a tie-down and j-screws, I'm considering a relocation to the trunk. BMR offers a bolt-in tray, but it takes up the spare. Even though my spare is out for racing, I oughta carry it other times. I want to put the reloc. box in the (stealthbox) driver side well. Anyone done this before? Any pictures? Summit has a kit for like $45, so that would likely work. Just wondering about dimensions.

    Don't know about the dimensions but I've been thinking about doing this myself. I can't get to my car right now (it's out of state, DONT ask). But when I get it back I'll check the dimensions; I need to replace the battery anyway.

      same thing with my car, a mechanic broke the lip of my battery tray way back when. I tie it down with a rope, and use Home Depot paint mixing sticks to wedge the battery agianst the rear of the headlight unit forcing it agianst the bolt thing that holds the battery down. I been thinking of moving the battery to the trunk too. Jsut been too busy to think of things, If the Coolant resovoir wasn't under neath the battery tray I would jsut get a strap and some bolts to hold it down.

        Wow you know what, the a-holes at advance did the same to me when putting in a new battery. On the way down the dude kinda dropped the battery and it broke the hold down tab. And he just acted like it never even happened.

        Sorry to get kinda off subject Wicked, but i had to get my words in. If you do get any pictures of a relocation kit installed. Let me know.

          Stupid plastic lip! Any other imut on doing this? I heard you may need something to vent the battery do to it maybe releasing toxic gases.

          My car is not a show car, but yellow rope tieng the battery down is jsut plain ghetto.

            i plain on doing the same thing soon also so let me know how it goes the summit kit relocates to the oppisite side of the spare tire?

              get an Optima drycell battery. Then you don't have to worry about venting the battery unless something goes wrong with your alternator. check out the website, i have a deepcycle yellow top, and i've had it for over 3 years with no problems what soever. They cost about three times as much as a normal batter, but they also last longer and are better batteries.http://www.optimabatteries.com/

I know for racing, it's a really good thing for weight to have your battery to the rear, but I like the boom. Where do you run cable?
