  • AC only blows at feet but is still cold...

so you know how on the v6's they have the a/c cutout for when you floor it? well mine started being extra sensitive, to the point where if i gave it any gas it would cutout... now it just completely blows at my feet only no matter what setting i have it on. still cold, but not effective enough to keep me cool. i pulled apart the dash, to check connections on back of the hvac controller and everything looked perfect... i also noticed that the switch between making it blow on your face, and making it blow on your feet isnt cable controlled, its electronically controlled...

Im leaning towards whatever sensor it is that cuts the ac off under accelleration, or the one that makes the transfer between feet and face.. anyone know where these are or what they are called???

Any pointers???? its really hot in texas...

The A/C cuts out when you floor it? Wasn't aware of this...

Then again, I rarely turn on the air conditioner.

not completely cuts out but it kind of dims out so you can have some moving power

That's not the AC cutting out.... you have a vacuum leak in the HVAC circuit somewhere. When you floor it there is no vacuum, so what happens is the vents move from their proper positions. Check to see if cold air is blowing out of the defroster vent. That's the default position when there is no vacuum. So, you'll need to pinpoint the leak. I would check the vacuum reservoir and the check valve that goes along with it.

no, the ac compressor will shut off at WOT so you dont damage it at high rpm's since our compressors are designed not to cycle and stay on 100% of the time

The most likely place for this vacuum leak is the three-way vacuum check valve on the pass. side of the engine bay, by the PCM toward the back. If it gets even a small crack in it, and they do dry out and crack, it will not allow enough vacuum to hold the footwell switch open. You can buy them in the Help! section at advance auto for about $5.
