Summer is here and i have put off long enough replacing my ac compressor in my 96 firebird. i do know that i should not get a remanufactured one so im looking only at new ones. does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase one for the best price. i see some on ebay but im a little hesitant on who to buy from. thanks

leave it out it robs power anyhow. and added weight . lol . look for oem replacements. some are better than others remember you get what you pay for. look at warrantys when buying . i got mine from advanced auto around 200.00 bucks or so but they have the best warranty . with out going to a dealer . mega bucks. :omg:

I wouldn't rule out remanufactured as long as it's a brand name, from a reputable source, and has a decent warranty. I'd stay away from anything remanufactured in China though. That would probably be asking for trouble. I think I need a compressor for my beater, if so, I'm getting a remanufactured one from Advanced Auto. Like Tampabud said, they're about $200 there for remanufactured one, and about $300 for new. Make sure you get a new accumulator too, I think the compressor's warranty depends on it.
