    They are morons.

3000 miles per oil change no matter what the manufacturer claims.

And its Mobil 1, not Mobile 1...

    Moving to General Tech.

Do v8 fbody guys not use mobil 1 or a synthetic like it in their engine anyway?

There is a mobil 1 plaque under my corvette hood that says to only use a full synthetic.

When i get my 3.8L in (and finish my laser RS turbo engine) I will only run mobil 1.

what all is involved in switching over from traditional to synthetic(sp?)?

can i just do a straight up change or do i need to do something special?

You just change you oil using sythetic (filter change too of course).

Some people run a blend, but i figure why not go all out. I have heard something about not going back to regular oil afterwards though.

I switched to Valvoline synthetic and went a little over 7k miles without changing it and it was a little dirty, probably around 5k miles is how far you need to go. I seriously doubt there's any performance increase, but synthetic oil will help engine life.
