Easiest is the intake. Find a whisper airlid.

check my earlier post^ whisper lids are hard to come by now but if you go to hawksthirdgenparts.com you can get one. you'll want a k&n filter to go along with it.

next look at getting a catback and build up your exhaust.

Not noticeable but it's necessary to let it breathe in more air to get more power. Hence the restrictive stock airlid/the very first part of the intake would be the most feasible place to start. Along with the airfilter. K&N is of course the popular choice.

there's apparently problems with the manufacturing and pricing disputes so most companies that carried them wont sell them....it's lame.

i originally ordered mine last summer for 100 shipped new and it got put on backorder...needless to say i just got mine for 180 shipped 3 weeks ago.

i was not a happy camper.

                        Re: what works? need hp/tq!

im baaaaack...well sadly i had to let my 2002 camaro go in turn for a 1999 blazer. i THOUGHT i needed an suv like a fool. well turns out i didnt. i traded the blazer for a 2000 firebird 3.8 5m t-tops nearly 100% mint. has some miles (almost 150k) but whatever.

                        so here are my thoughts.
                        1. whisper lid
                        2. cold air intake omitting whisper lid. or just k & n filter
                        3. jet chip
                        4. dual exhaust from the cat back
                        5. self lubing supercharger
                        6. better ignition

reorder as needed. thoughts? im happy with the 3.8 and i was looking at some supercharger calculators. im not really ever gonna get v8 power BUT it will do very will with these mods and will not be as heavy.

                        opinions?

                          1-2-4-6-3-5(with headers.)

supercharger-is in reality a waste without headers.

FORCED air is only great with headers.
without headers. your only gonna let as much air as the stock manies will allow to escape. which is not enough.

goals with this car? power desired? track times desired?

so then do i go with a cold air intake and forget about the whisper lid and a k&n filter? what do you advise for headers? rksport.com has nice stuff. or another site?

as far as track times and desired hp. i dunno...i guess faster than before and as close to the v8 i can get without the insurance cost and swapping an engine. just so we are all clear ive got a whopping $1800 into this car lol. the blazer i traded straight up for this cost me that. from looking at parts im guestimating this project should cost me roughly $4000. for a total of roughly 6k in the car. is it worth it? no but id be happy. i know i cant sell the car for 6k but it will be a ton of fun while i have it.

heres the link to the supercharger calculator. tell me what you think.

i used 200hp at the flywheel and 92 octane with 7psi. good guideline?

                                1. Whisper lid with K&N filter
                                2. Headers, either pacesetters or the longtubes from FFF (more money)
                                3. Hi flow cat
                                4. Cat back exhaust
                                5. Aluminum Driveshaft
                                6. Gears/LSD
                                7. HPtuners or a dyno tune
                                8. Address suspension, LCAs at minimum
                                9. Short throw shifter
                                10. Nitrous for the rest of the power :)
