Sorry for the idiot question but, what does a head gasket repair job cost at an independant repair shop? Not looking to get ripped off for a repair I have never had done before. In addition, is it something I may be able to attempt myself? I have done oil changes, fan and radiator changes. Thanks for any help.

If you don't already know how to do it, it's probably not a good idea to try it.

Having a shop do it will be very expensive. At the very least $800, if not more.
