yeah if the trans mount is torn, then the back of the trans isnt connected to the frame of the car. + the torque arm is connected to the back of the trans. so everytime you hit the cas the rear pushes the torque arm up but because the trans mount is bad it isnt attached to anything and it moves up and down freely. understand?
as far as shocks go, auto zone is fine for stock replacements.
If your car is
A. lowered
B. Plan to lower in the future
C. want to up grade your shocks for performance
I would not buy shocks from autozone. Better performing shocks such as bilstines or KYBs are going to run about $400 while Konis will cost you about 800 i believe.
