  • BATTERY problem, need help FAST

so i was driving and i notice my check gauges light comes on. i look down and my battery gauge reads about 10-11 volts, (almost in red). i check all my battery/alternator connections and everything is tight. the more i drive my car, the more that gauge lowers. right now it is at about 8-9 volts. my battery is an optima yellow top. also, my turn signals arent working, and neither is cruise control.

    ANY IDEAS? HELP!!!

Check the alternator. You're running at battery voltage, and continuing to drive it is sucking down the battery.

yeah, that guage is for your alternator, not your battery.

alternator failing it sounds like. Have it tested at autozone/advanced

                It happens.

Get it tested to find out for sure.

Maybe that alternator wasn't supposed to make that SC sound after all? Keep us posted. ~ rhodey

haha yea maybe not. why would be alternator go bad? is there anything else having to do with my car that would affect the lifespan of an alternator?

I've heard alot of stories on other F-body boards, about people buying red and yellow topped batteries from Optima, and their alternators suddenly going on to the afterlife.

                            Just, so you know.
