  • Banging from under the car I can't figure out.

Ok im running a pacesetter headers into a 3-inch pipe( no cat) back to my flowmaster 2.5. My torque are has a poly bushing on it (its nice and tight). My Transmission has a poly mount on it ( it doesn't move. My headers are tight, the y-pipe flanges are tight and all my exhaust claps are tight. My steering arm is adjusted away from the headers also.

When I just take off normally, most of the time i get a little blam blam. When I get on it from a start the stregnth of the blam increases. Even if Im in second or 3rd and get on it in the powerband it makes a very fast hitting sound.

This sound sounds like its coming from the front of the tranny were the y-pipe would be. One idea was maybe its my motor mounts, but I don't think it is.

Im out of ideas here goes, I need some assitance. My car was away for winter and it was doing it before I put it away, so I don't remember exaclty when it started :(

I had that kind of problem when my K-member broke under the tranny. The poly mount on my car was still fine, but I did't have a large enough washer on it after modding the K-member for the LS1 mount. You might check to see that it's all well under there just in case. Good luck!

Well the tranny doesnt move, I don't feel it in my shifter at all. Plus I've been under the car trying to figure stuff it out, and I have pulled and tugged on everything down there that could be rattling. I've had no luck though.

That happened to me too, I just put my pacesetters on. The y-pipe hits the frame, you gotta dent it in a little to get a little clearance.

I had a problem like this with my CIA headers and all it was, was a exhaust clamp (y- pipe to CAT pipe) was hitting a little bolt, I moved it down a half inch and the problem was gone. I got lucky, sometimes it's the little stupid stuff that can kill ya.

I know its coming from the tranny area, around the y-pipe. Next time I can I'am going to investigate more. I know its something stupid that I have overlooked.
