  • 3.8 Pulleys??

I did a search but didn't find anything. Anybody know where I can find performance aftermarket pulleys for a 99 3.8 bird?

First, I don't think this is advanced. Second, I serached this before and found A TON of useful threads, as fara s do they help the 3.8L, and where they can be found.

Also, I heard that it will only give about 1-2hp increase for the underdrive pulleys. I don't know about y'all, but I would like to get a heck of alot more hp for tearing the old pulleys off and replacing them. 1-2 doesn't thrill me, 10-50 does.
        Just my opinion.

I didnt think there were any...
the mod dictionary or whatever says there arent any... 1-2hp is helpful! And if thats all we can get the might as well, right?

the 1-2 is an old rumor... You'll actually get ~5-7rwhp max with both the underdrive and the alternator. This has been confirmed on ClubGP, and yes its a worthwhile mod. I want both but I am waiting until I swap my belt to do it.

Last I had heard the price was a little high. Are they still around $250?

they're about $130 for both. u'll need a longer belt if u get both, but if u just get 1, then u can still use the stock belt. they also help ur engine rev quicker since they weigh less and are underdriven.

I bought the waterpump pulley from ZZP. I don't know if we have more space between our pulleys than the 60 degree 3800 the GPGT uses, but it sure looks like you can manage the alternator pulley also without going to a new belt. I couldn't use the instructions they gave me to put the belt back on, I had to bypass an idler pulley temporarily, and then muscle it back into place, so there must be some differences. Can't assure you on that though. Can't tell you of any gains, I did to many mods at the same time.

I could not fit a new belt with a w/p and a 20% altenator pully, but I replaced the belt with a shorter one and by passed the A/C. The belt rubs a bit leading to the altenator but the clearance will wear in.

Was swapping the WP pulley hard? How did you get the alternator pulley off?

i have a 98 a4 and i was wondering whats the difference between 5% overdriver and a 10% or 20% underdrive alternater pulley? hp, low-end and
                          top-end speed.

The higher percentage underdrive the more it takes away from your accesories...its only really noticable at idle..basically your lights will be a little dimmer at idle.
