when my car is warming up, i have to let it sit for a while before the heat comes on (20 min.). When I start driving, the car loses all the heat, but at idle it gets warm again? I'm hoping it is the t-stat.
What are some basic things I should look for in the situation? My mornings suk cause i drive 30 min. to work in 4 degree temp while freezing my pooper off! Thanks

So you think that maybe in my case the t-stat is stuck open, therefore my car will never run hot?
Now if thats the case...how come if i let it sit there for a while at idle..the car will eventually get hot, but then cold when i drive?
I will pick up a t-stat and change it out and see what happens. Thanks for the input

Its not actually stuck open its just that it take a lot longer to warm up because The thermo opens earlier to let coolant in. The coolent being very very cold due to the temp outside, but it will eventually after cycling through enough times will warm up. As soon as you get the car moving it cools the coolant in the radiator because the very cold air coming into the engine/hitting the radiator causing it to cool back down!
Thats basically why it eventually gets warm idiling then cools back down almost as soon as you drive.
It doesn't sound like anything is worng with yoru thermo its just typical of cold climates and colder thermostats. Puttin the stock one in should correct your problem!
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
