Exhaust Manifold Leak?

What does it sound like? I heard it sounds a lot like lifter tapping? I have a tapping that is not audible at idle, but under load it sounds like lifters…and it get louder when I push harder on the throttle.

Ok... what is the easiest way to check for a leak?

manifold leaks sound a lot like a collapsed lifter or the infamous fuel injector tick.

it's tough to detect, though. if it's not audible at idle, i sort of doubt it's a manifold leak, although it is possible. i have the same problem, only it goes away above 2000 rpm.

if the sound is worse at higher engine speed, that is pretty indicative of a collapsed lifter.

thanks, this is the second rebuilt engine in the car and this one has only 800 miles...I hope it is not a lifter or I am going to be pissed.
