... and in the application that people use trans fluid in an engine, it's to help clean it because it has more detergents, and to be used on a short term basis only
exactly
its not going to ruin your engine if you use it once
I would never use trans fluid near my engine, just use engine sealers to to restore valves and seals that are made to for the engine. You got Bars engine stop leak & restore, or like my Dad always told me if there is a problem with a seal or gasket don't put crap in the there and half @ss the problem, fix the problem and do it right. I have never used trans sealants or engine sealants in my car, I either fixed it or had someone fix the problem. Maybe I'll try some headlight fluid if I get a leak .LOL Or if I get some tranny problems just throw some bottle cork screw pieces in there to make it last longer.LOL

in his case...filling the whole oil pan with trans x is a bad idea
The proper way to use the tranny fluid as a cleanser, is to do one quart tranny fluid, with the rest oil, and drive 200-500 miles and change it with full oil. truth is trans fluid is not viscus enough to be used alone as engine oil.
thats my .02.

flaming chickin you right and so is ssms and so is cam98ro.
tranny fluid is a detergent and is not a LUBRICANT. BUT TOPPING off your oil. with like a quart to a half a quart of tranny fluid is not bad.
its not too much to harm but just enough to help.
TRANS x people is not a tranny fluid. its a seal conditioner and a lubricant. (read the back of the can) and DID NOT and WILL not hurt the engine when put with the oil.
THE ONLY other chemical that i use in the engine is sea foam. and THAT on the other hand is NOT a lubricant what so ever and again with flaming chicken should not be used in the engine for more than 200 miles. (due to the fact that it could wash out bearings)
on the other note. does ANYONE disagree with me now?
because different additives are better than other ones,
and its just like diesal fuel. you can run that in your car when you change your oil.
sure you cant keep it in there for more than 5 min but it WORKS>
trans x is a chemical that just SIMPLY works the the engine.
its called being innovative and if you dont try stuff and see if it works. than there is no way to find out.
correct?
now theres that and then theres common sence. just cause trans x works. doesent mean im gonna go get some dawn dish soap and go to town haha
the way i see it, it's just not worth experimenting with. sure, i could see if my car will run off of everclear and fry grease, but why try when i know gasoline works and is readily available.
this would be justified if you were stranded without oil and your car broke down, but it's more like you're just tinkering for the hell of it.
as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, dont fix it"
no, that doesnt mean anything. all the trans-x would do is remove sludge buildup, i would not condition rings, it may condition the rear main seal slightly, but you said he was burning oil, not leaking it. the transx-x would not fix anything to do with burning oil via blow-by.

if hes burning 6 quarts of oil a week, there would more than likely be so much smoke coming out the tailpipe that he wouldnt be able to drive it, legally.

I'm sure you know, but they make kits for converting your engine into a "fry grease burner" and fast food chains will readily give away their used grease :naughty: But I most def agree, "If it ain't broke (or isn't about to be), don't fix it." I mean, I wouldn't enjoy driving a car that smelled like fast food (or chicken from KFC).

lol well what are we waiting for?! everyone should convert to grease just for the hell of it!! :slap:
besides, do you know how many chubby girls you could pick up in a f-body that smells like big-macs?! haha screw trans-x....fry grease ftw!

Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
