whatever dude, you know what I meant.... we were cruising on 301, average speed 83 mph....

Not trying to compete with the teeny boppers here.... I was 4 wheeling in a 1984 Ford F250 (probably made before you were born) stick shift when I was 10.... I had my drivers license before I even took Drivers Ed.

I've never been in an accident, and once was pulled over for going 98.6 mph on 202 outside of West Chester, PA and didn't get a ticket.

Oh, and I have left many many a "boy" at the light! :burn:

My daddy was proud of me!

Who me? I didn't get an fbody for gas mileage.... I got it because I wanted a convertible and my father in law worked for GM so I got a huge discount, got to order what I wanted and I wasn't driving no stupid Cavalier convertible. I got a 3.8 because I have a very heavy gas pedal foot, and I thought it would keep me out of trouble. Sometimes I regret not getting a Z28, othertimes I am grateful. Now, I wouldn't trade if for anything. :wavey:

hmmm, exaggerate much? you had a Learner's Permit.

you get your license approval signed off (pass or fail) from drivers ed and then get the real thing at the dmv. you can get your learners permit before drivers ed, which is what i did (i was the only kid that drove to driver's ed class too, but it's not a big deal)

Nope, no exageration. I lived in Pa, went to school in DE. I turned 16 in May, wasn't scheduled for Drivers Ed until September of the following school year. I had my learners permit for 6 months before my birthday. I took the driving test on the day of my birthday, passed it (my mother didn't think I would) and received my license that day. Still have the actual license at home, yes, it was a license.

what were missing here, is that 3.23 gears and 28mpg come from the automatics, the five speed of the 3.4l are 3.42 and the mpg is ****

I just traded a 99 Mustang 3.8 for a 2001 Firebird 3.8. The difference in the engines is amazing to me. The Mustang only got around 14 mpg, and if you read the V6 Mustang forums you'll see that that's pretty normal. It was so bad that I rarely drove it, I drove my 97 Z28 that got 20 mpg. And I've always wanted a Firebird, so a guy that just bought the 2001 Firebird was looking to trade for an automatic. It's a stick and his wife couldn't drive it. And the Firebird is getting around 19 mpg, and that's with 4:10 gears! So I'm pretty happy all the way around!

I didn't. Im just disapointed that its making less fuel milage than my Z28 did.

Reason I had to get rid of the Z28 was because of college. It was either the car or my future so I had to make a heart breaking decision. I got the Firebird aproximately a year later but Im ganna have to do a motor swap or turbo or something to it.

For the record. I've replaced plugs, wires, ignition coils, new tires freshly inflated, new fuel pump (old one died), new air filter... and my new gas milage... ..is 23 MPG average... I can LIVE with it I guess but Im alittle disapointed still, especially being that there's an 8 sec TransAM twin turbo'd running 23 PSI making the exact same fuel milage and able to run the entire 1/4th mile on only its rear wheels :(.

I cracked 27 MPG only ONCE, full highway between Atlanta and Orlando and that was doing between 55 and 75 MPH (alot of roadwork, alot of cops, and very bad rain.) - Then when I arrived in Orlando I sat in traffic with the A/C on and scored 18 MPG. =(

Wow. That's great. My 93 3.4 gets 16-19 average MPG. The car runs rich and I really have no idea why.

New O2 sensors, runs great, does not ever foul plugs. Just runs rich and I do not know why or how to fix it...
