  • Disapointed in my fuel milage.

    I have a 2002 Pontiac Firebird W68 (3.42's).

I make around 320 - 340 Miles to a full tank. This is 60% Highway, 40% Street, A/C running between Noon and 6 PM... I put a new Air Filter on it and that helped ALITTLE but not enough. It's got around 82K on the clock. It has a rough idle in the morning but it quickly smoothens out as the car warms up. What should I do?

normal tune up to start with is always a good thing, plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc....

Bleh... My 2001 LS1 Z28 pulled 25 - 26 MPG with the same conditions and scored around 400 to a tank... All Highway it got up to 31 MPG and it's not even a 6 Speed...

I was expecting more from the V6 Gas Milage :(

            r u driving the 6 like u did the 8?

the atvantage of the 6 is not mpg, its rated 1mpg better. the advantage is cheaper insurence.

drop some 2.73's in there and just drive on the highway...that should make it jump nicely. lol

My 94 3.4 with 3.23 gets around 26 with the a/c on cold. I usually get around 350 miles on a tank or less. And it has 239,000 miles on it.

I usually get 23mpg mixed driving, and 26mpg on the highway. Once in a while I can get 29mpg on the highway if I keep it to 75mph or lower. Mine is a 2002 Y87 with 75K on it.

Drove round trip from the Eastern Shore to Pennsylvania -- both highway and city driving, got 33 MPG for the trip. NICE.

Oh, them's fighting words :twak: What I didn't mention is that I managed to make a 2 and a half hour drive in 2 hours and 7 minutes..... as the 11 year old (daughter) in the pass seat told me when it was clear to pass and to go faster!

Girls got it goin' on, and you know it.

Have you ever lost to a girl? :stp:
