I was driving one day, I knew I was low on gas, but I kept going. I thought 'the gas light will come on'....NOPE....the thing didn't come on until the car sputtered and died....what's the deal? Is there anything I can do about this? New sensor or something? That light is a safety net!

Why rely on a light?? You want to avoid running the tank low anyways as you can damage the fuel pump. Fuel is used to cool and lubricate the fuel pump. Yeah, I thought the light would come on too. Sucks running out of gas on the freeway.

I thought the check guages light comes on? It did on a '99 Firebird I test drove.
