• Hypertech update please.

So do they have one out for the 2000 model yet? I called my local parts store and they said they didn't have anything listed for any V6 Camaros, only the LS1. Any word on when it will come out? What does one of those cost?

Second question, will it be any better than the Jet Chip? Other than raising the speed limiter what else will it do? Fix the speedo after a gear change? What are the dyno proven gains compared to that of the Jet Chip?

Thanks, been busy and haven't stayed up to date on things.

It said "coming soon" since 97 in Jegs and Summit. So don't hold your breath.

I was on hypertech's website and they have a listing as #30009 as a 2001 V6 A4... and I have seen a few sites with this at $350 but back oredered... I guess the 2001 is in.... NOt too sure if this answers your question, but its a start for the V6's

So is it suppose to give much more of a gain than the Jet Chip Stage II?

What were the gains for the 2001 Hypertech Chip? Anybody remember, couldn't find it by searching.

During my time at Hypertech, I gained 6-9 RWHP and 9-13 RWTQ before I put in my 180º T-stat. Gains varied based on atmospheric conditions...

Here's "one" of many of my dyno sheets from Hypertech....

The other options (changing fan temps, speed limiter, gear calibration, etc...) justify the cost of the unit, IMHO. I'm going to do some track testing with it next weekend at Beech Bend Bash 4 in Bowling Green, KY. I'll post the results when completed.

I haven't spoke with Hypertech in a while (haven't been able to do any track testing) but AFAIK, they're still doing the beta testing. When that's complete, they'll release them if results are good.

Dunno yet.... maybe I'll have an update for you when I give Hypertech my drag racing data from next weeks event. It's been several months since I've been in contact with them.

I'll re-quote the email I received back on January 8th.

quote:
At this point we are only covering the 98-02 3.8L F-Bodies! This is because after doing some cal evaluation we found that the PCM's hardware and software is similar in nature. It's just a matter of getting a vehicle of each year and doing some development and verification. The pre-98's are a different matter, different hardware and software structure. We have gotten a lot of request for the earlier years and some 3.4L as well...this decision will be made by HYPERTECH (out of Engineering hands),but at this point I do not know of any plan for these vehicles!

We currently have no "official" releases! We are still doing our best on the Engineering side of things. We were originally hoping to release the Beta's before Christmas, but we got pushed behind on things out of our control. We were going to release the Beta's all at one time! And not just year to year after we get them finished. We are currently working on the 02's...sorry I can't give you a deadline or date of the Beta's, but we never know what we will encounter! But I do have all the Beta volunteers you have given me in our database and when we are ready to go to Beta we will be getting in touch with them!! Thanks again Jason.
