    Re: Replacing TTY Bolts

I'm not talking about honing the cylinders, I'm talking about align-honing the bore that the crank rides in... I installed the main cap with studs and torqued them down to ARP spec and took some measurements, and no ovalling was found...
Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
    Custom interior...

ah I miss understood you, I used ARP bolts on pretty much everything with my build. I built a 4.6 but I doubt it's much different. Specifically I did use ARP studs on my main caps and didn't have it align-honed, I guess it makes sense on real high horse power engines (like 900+) but the machinist who I consider a friend has been doing this stuff for over 50 years and he didn't even suggest to me that I needed it. I'm at about 450 rwhp and have well over 1000 miles since I first started the engine up a few months ago and so far so good. When we assembled the engine I did check the clearances and everything seemed fine.

After thinking back when I had this done.....I did actually mention it to him, he checked it and said it was fine....it's been awhile since I had it done.
