Autozone 180 Degree Stats?

Autozone sells 180 degree stats for our cars for like 3 bucks. 7 bucks with the lifetime warranty. Is anyone using their brand?

Why does everyone keep saying they just bought a 180 thermo or mentioning in their profile they have one? Isn't a 180degree thermostat standard on our cars? I thought most people buy 160? Is their something I'm missing?

180 is not standard. i thought it was 210, but i really dont know what it is other than it is NOT 180

what does adding a 180* stat do exactly? how does it affect everyday driving, like sitting in traffic? do you run the risk of overheating?

All it does is open the thermostat to a full position at a lower temperature. So instead of having you thermo fully open, cooling down at 210, it does it at 160 or 180.

I am using the Autozone life-time 180 in my 2001. Works just fine. Stock thermostat from 99 to present is 195.

Ted, the tech database was wrong on the 1999+ stats. It states it comes 180 stock but it's actually 195 stock. It's in my manual and I also called the dealer to make sure. I was informing people on the cheaper price just in case someone puts a chip in their car.

i have an auto-zone and it works like its supposed to!, it reads 179-182 on the A-tap, mine is a 98 and the stock one was 195...

For years below 99 are they still 195? I have a '96. Is it better to switch to 160 or 180?

I Just put a 180 stat (advance auto parts special...lol) in my 93 3.4 and it works great. I have heard that 180 is the way to go. 195 runs too hot and 160 has many problems. 180 is the most trouble free stat from what i've seen on this board.

not unless your car was 01-02 i believe. the 160 stat works awesome on my car and i love it. my car usually operates around 165, but since i live where there is a lot of traffic, then it usually gets up to the 195 mark. that's fine by me though--better than 210+ like stock stat would do.
