  • Free Diagnosis?!

I got a 2000 3.8L manual Camaro @ 117k. I just did a little tune up (spark plugs & wires, pcv valve, cleaned k&n intake, oil change, and fuel filter). I have a couple problems I'm trying to fixed and I would love anyone and everyone's input.

1.) When I go to start my car, sometimes it takes long to turn over and actually start up (click, click, click, click, click, click, click, vr00m) and others it goes quickly (click, click, vr00m).

2.) I live in las vegas, and usually in the hot summer with my a/c on I experience problems with my RPMs. For instance, when I'm coasting at 40mph and applying my brakes to slow down at a light, sometimes my rpms will drop below the idle (i think 1200rpm) to around 800-700rpm and it sounds like it wants to die. Sometimes it does actually turn off (stall) my car and I have to turn it back on. It only stalls when I apply brakes while in neutral.

3.) I have an HID kit on both my fogs and headlights, and sometimes only 1 fog light or 1 headlight comes on. I've done everything you can think of to fix this problem, such as run relays from each power, change the ballast, and run each hid (fog and headlight) to a proprietary switch to make sure the oem switch wasn't messing something up. After all these headaches... NOTHING has fixed it. I don't know what to do.

4.) Occasionally, I enjoy launching my baby (aka the camaro) and demolishing my friends rice (aka civic b16) but I think there is either a problem with my suspension or something. This is what happens, I can even launch at 3500rpm or so and my car feels like it is bouncing up and down in the rear. Is this bad suspension? When I go over speed bumps, it does not feel bad at all.. it feels like a cushion as always. Or could it be do to not having my tires rotated in awhile or not having traction? I'm puzzled on this one too (as well as the other problems haha).

5.) Sometimes it is a little hard to switch into 1st gear so I have to put it in 2nd then 1st to move forward. Also, if I'm switching to 5th gear quickly, it may grind a little bit when it's going in.

Guys, I'd really appreciate any input. Even if I get 1 out of these 5 problems fixed it would be great. Thanks
