So the other day i had one of my heater hoses snap in two at one of the seemingly pointless plastic parts of the hose, and of course it vommited coolant all over itself. After i fixed it I notice that my fans aren't running like they used too. They used to blow a lot harder and turn on a lot sooner. Now they don't turn on till 210 unless i have the ac on and either way they dont blow as hard. before that happened my car never got to 210 or near it. Any suggestions? also I switched out the dex cool for the green stuff after a good flush, i heard dexcool corrodes the insides and radiator. should i have done that?

Re: Cooling fan issues
210 is stock for all V6's for the 1st stage which is low to come on, 225 is stage 2 which is high, unless you have hptuners or have it reflashed or have a manual fan control switch. When the A/C is on it is on low stage. For Dexcool ,good choice on getting it out of there and as long as you flushed it well and then used green , you should be good to go. Summer is always where people post about heating up unusall. As long as you bleed the system and still have your air damm and fans are running you should be fine. The dash board can read wrong when it is at 210 mark it can be at around 195-200 acccording to my electric Aeroforce scanner , so I don't worry too much anymore since I have it in there all the time.Last edited by ssms5411; 08-09-2009, 02:31 AM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Cooling fan issues

Re: Cooling fan issues
That would be my guess too. Mine usually runs the fans at low speed. Only once in a while do I hear them kick in to high speed.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

Re: Cooling fan issues
If you want to know if they blow hard or not, do this. The sensor beside the Thermostat housing...unplug it at that point the check engine light should come on and the fans should continuously blow at a high speed. I have mine unplugged so the fans never go off....try that and let me know what happens. That will tell you if your fans blow at a high speed, because now that I think about it they should blow high when the AC is on
