  • Coil ?

Another newbie ques. Do I need to buy a set of coils and a set of Coil Packs? Are they the same thing or are they separate? Thanks.

Your car has 3 pairs of coil packs, 2 per cylinder. They are on the front of the motor, drivers-side. They are numbered, and have spark plug wires coming off of them going to the engine itself. The stock ones should be fine unless you think you have a problem or plan on adding a power-adder such as nitrous or something.

What are the symptoms of a bad coil?

You'll usually notice a lose in power (or bogging feeling), a misfire.

I was shown that you can test a pack by pulling the wires of the coil, and if there isn't a spark between the two... the coil is bad.
