and as i said earlier the sending unit is broke or not functioning correctly....i know cause mine went out. Oil is not going to make your pressure stay way low.
Well I havent been able to check the pressure with a mechanical gauge yet, but out of curiosity i changed the oil. I now have Mobile One Full Synthetic 10w-40. The pressure doesnt drop as low as it did with the conventional 10w-30 but it is still really low. Just an update on things.
Ok, so the 30ish psi was once the car was warmed up and at operating temperature. The 60psi was what it was when i gave it gas up to 2k rpms. What should be normal psi at idle for our cars? I am now running 10w-40 Mobile One full synthetic.
I'm not sure if this will have relevance or not. Before I did my engine swap at 180k, I noticed when I came off the freeway, the oil gauge (stock) would go between 0 and 60. Once I gave it gas, it would go 60+. I did have a rear main that was leaking. Not horrid, but still leaking. I was concerned until I could see at cruising, it seemed to be ok. I attributed it just to being a high-mileage mototr and the wear that it had from that. I did have one time that the OEM sensor failed and it was shooting a thin stream of oil as the motor ran (which I wasn't especially thrilled with) but after replacing it, well, there went the problem.

I would try 20w50 syn. next time or try intense or ZZPerforance oil PSI booster to help you out. Your engine may be taking a dump slowly who knows but you can try 20W50 syn. to see what that does or the PSI boosters. It could be something blocking your oil pickup, who knows? Could be something small. if it is running good then go withit, only time I saw mine at 30 PSI last was when I ran a 10LB bottle of nitrous in about 30 min. using a 125 shot on the streets in 110 degree weather using 10W30 mobile clean 5000 oil. I remember looking at it thinking I blew something but after driving normal going home it ran fine and PSI went back up and still runs fine even after 150 shots .63 jets through it. My engine is forged though. I would just keep a eye on it and listen for noises thats about all you can do along with regular maintance and right foot control.LOL

hah, you were just sloshing it away from the pickup with those speeds.
The PSI is about 60 at start up and then after driving it just drops according to the interior gauge all the way down to just about or on the orange line at idle. The mechanical gauge is giving me some reassurance that things might be ok and that maybe i had a faulty sending unit or something. I have a new sending unit going on probably in about 7-8 hours from now.
