We normally find TDC by feeling the air rushing out of the spark plug hole on the compression stroke when the engine is being turned over. When the air stops blowing out of the spark plug hole the piston is at the top of it's travel. But with your broken plug installed I'm not sure how you can do that. You could remove the valve cover and watch the rockers for that cylinder, but that's even more work that you don't need.

Any suggestions, anyone?

When you do get that damn thing out, make sure that you get all of the debris out of the cylinder as possible!

its easy, find the firing order of our engines, and wait for the one before it to come to TDC on the compression stroke, and turn the engine a bit more. That is just a close way to get it, if you want to be perfect, keep turning the engine over untill the next spark plug blows out, and go in the middle of the 2, which would let you find TDC

your dad is way wrong on that one. For one thing, things contract when they are cold, and expand when they are hot.

Changing plugs on a cold engine wolnt do anything.... by the looks of the plug, it looks like it rusted in there, and you turned the plug too hard, and it snapped off.

are the plugs stock? if they wernt, it could have been tightened down too much

my brother got under my car for two minutes and came out with the metal and ceramic end of the spark plug. Replaced one of the plugs and I am taking it down to midas to let them finish my plug swapping.. that way if the rest snap they have to deal with it lol

That's a relief (that it came out that easily)

Thing is though, if the rest snap, they've got to deal with it yes, but they can also charge extra. They might not be as good as your brother at getting those out of there.

It makes for a nice boost but I'd want the power all the time and it's just not practical for that.

But that sounds like a way better idea (having your brother pull them) than letting some yahoo at Midas attempt it.
