A/C maintenance?

My mom says that you're supposed to run your A/C intermittently throughout the winter so that it doesnt crack.
I've never heard this, is it true?

you need to run it to keep the seal from drying up and leaking freon. Once every 2 weeks sould do.

Your AC compressor cycles on when you use yoru defrost. It works faster because the compressor dries out the air. This also helps keep the seals and everything working well in the winter months. If it's sitting in the garage, you're SOL. Nothing will "crack" by it sitting.

I'm SOL cause its only been used like 5 times out of the 6 years I've had the car.
