The misfire detection was required for OBDII. If you have a scanner that can read the OBDII data you can see the self tests that are part of the OBDII platform. The PCM has several tests it performs continuously and several it runs once per ignition cycle. The Misfire is a continuous test.

Re: Misfire when racing through the gears

Did you guys even read what I have been posting? I have brand new plugs, wires, coils and ICM. A CASE relearn fixed my problem.

When I replaced my A4 PCM with the M5 one that is when the car started to have the problem. I never did a CASE relearn because my friend said it doesnt make much of a difference, but I figured it had to be the prob since it didnt misfire when I was running the old PCM. Did a CASE relearn in 2min and the problem is gone. I just wanted to see what others had to say. But please read what has already been posted.
