Does it really sound like it's idling that high, or is the gauge just off? It's not uncommon for the gauge to be a few hundred RPM off at idle.

1000 RPM is in no way high.

mine idles at 1000, and there was a thread on here a few days ago, and about 10+ other peoples cars idled at around 1000.

if you want, i will take a vid clip of my car idiling, when i first start it up, and after driving it for a while... and you will see, it is almost exactly what you explained.

mine goes about 750-800 at the minumum, but its a rough idle.
            no clue why it does
            I will double check

if your unhappy with it send the computer to texas speed..they will slow your rpm down to what ever you want.
