Ok changed out the motor gear today..all is well. On to the window. I will never quit on it, she'll ride till she dies.

      Re: Drivers side window.

Glad to hear you fixed your light. I just swapped mine out the other day as well.

As for the window, it really was not that hard to do. Just set aside a few hours to take your time and get it done right the first time.

Window motors are a pretty big PITA the first time around, but after the holes are drilled and the rivets are gone, it's much easier to replace them again. Took me like 1-2 hours the first time, and about 30 minutes or less on the second.

Sounds like the first time I ripped my doors apart to install 3 way component speakers took me half the day.. now I can get those things off in 15 min haha

Going to replace the motor probably next weekend. No real time this weekend. Will see how it goes.

              Re: Drivers side window.

Can you believe that my driver's window motor died again this morning. About 18 months since I replaced it.

              Son of a Bit......

Screw it, we are leaving for vacation in about 1 hour and now the damn window is stuck down about 2 inches.

Oh well, I will fix it when we return...

                Re: Drivers side window.

Ok, back from the weekend in the Dominican Republic, we had a great time.

Went to Advance Auto, exchanged my bad window motor for a new one free of charge. Good thing for LLT.

Installed the new one and back in business. I hope this one lasts longer then the last one...

                  Re: Drivers side window.

My driver side motor is toast. Gave me only 1 (can't roll all the way up) warning too.

Those of you who have done this, do you re-secure the motor with rivets or bolt/washer/nut? If the nuts and bolts route, which sizes work best?

I'll be putting down some sound deadener too while I'm at it...

                  Thanks!

The new motor usually comes with the screws and nuts that you need to install it. You will need to drill out the old rivets in order to remove the broken motor. When you install the new motor put a small drop of loctite blue on the screws.

OK, purchased a pair of NEW motors online for $70 shipped. Did a search and found a good link with instructional pics and went to it... this was my first time messing with window motors and I'm happy to say that it took me only 2 1/2 hours start to finish for both sides. I have this forum to thank for helping me out so thanks everyone
