i'm with venom on this one---i didnt know Team Dynomax had any faults ;)
espey: is the rest of your exhaust stock? full 2 1/2" piping? you have pacesetters in, correct? hi flow cat?
all of those things will factor in on sound
Yeah, I still have a stock exaust exvept my headers. I want to get that summit glaspack and put it in place of my cat then do the rest of the 2 1/2" pipe. The dynomax sounds better now, rasped a little when I did my case relearn, but its 100% better than my cherry bomb.

completing your exhaust does a world of good man, trust me. i used to run a high flow cat and flowmaster muffler/tips and it rasped like crazy up top.
save up for a high flow cat and full 2 1/2" piping all the way back with the muffler you want (and i highly recommend an e-cutout before the rear axle with those headers and full exhaust) and it will make a big difference.
let it break it. then come back if you still have a problem.

I will be installing my Dynomax race muffler 3"in/out , so all together it would be VS cam, RK sport headers, 3" piping, no CAT , 3"in/out -7in. long- 6" round resonator mandrel bent piping , 3" Dynomax muffler with either a 3" turn down or a 3" out to 2 -3" Gibson stainless steel turn downs. Will let you know how it sounds.

I kinda miss my cherrybomb because it had a nice throaty gurgle at idle, where the dynomax is quiet. But anything above 3 grand it was embaressing to listen to. With a good high flow cat, 2 1/2" or 3 "pipes and an open cut out do your cars rasp much???

mine sounds monsterous even in the high rpms with my headers, hi flow, custom s-pipe, cutout, and 3" borla exhaust. i can rev it to the limit without being embarrassed. sounds amazing down low of course, and very little rasp up top.
i drive with my cutout open at all times now bc i love it that much haha. people dont believe it's a 6banger until i pop the hood or tell them.
I had the cat with no muffler set-up for awhile... My tailpipe rusted off and I just had the muffler shop weld a y-pipe in where the muffler was and it sounded really really good at idle, and while driving normal, but if you revved it in neutral, or punched it, it was deafening with tons of rasp... but I didn't really get on it a whole lot, so I liked it...

ok-im confused-with all due respect fellas-not sure why the cut out would sound great but no muffler would sound horribly raspy? also-are you putting the cut out after the cat or before? -thanks, always appriciate yalls advice
a cutout will still allow exhaust to pass to the muffler and out of the tailpipes, it's not a complete block off that would re-channel all of the gasses out of it soley. the loudest part of my exhaust is coming from my cutout before the rear axle, yes, but i can stand behind my car while it's idling and hear my borla muffler at work.
generally, the further back a cutout is, the less raspy and loud it will be. i would definitely recommend putting one on the i-pipe after the cat and s-pipe. right before the rear axle is perfect imo.

*ok, cool, i appriciate the help & the advice as always, i'm lookin seriously at one of those borlas (xs maybe?) & maybe a cut out as cash flow allows-btw-i contacted borla directly today to ask a question & ive gotta say they seem like a cool bunch of dudes-i was very impressed-great customer service! ...kinda like the folks here! (gee, was that gratitous butt kissing or what?!? LOL!) -seriously though fellas, thanks again
I never had any luck with my QTP 3" cutout before the muffler , it work outstanding but didn't have the exhaust tone I wanted. Too much rasp up top and just plain loud. But like some have said maybe right after the CAT is better. Good luck with it.
