I've been keeping record of the fuel and miles since I bought this Firebird in August. The car was getting a consistent 26 mpg with automatic and 3.08 gears. I do about 3/4 highway, and 1/4 non-highway driving.
After removing the air box and using a Cool Blue filter, the MPG is a steady 27. (27.11 to be precise)
Re: Its Official: Air Box Delete mod improves Milage
or it could be your filter that you changed, you can't claim one thing if you changed multiple things at once. Unless you had the filter before and I am reading it wrong

Re: Its Official: Air Box Delete mod improves Milage
It is a "combo" mod. Add new low restriction filter, and eliminate the air box all as a single mod. BTW, I really don't see the need for grinding out the ribs on the inside of the filter housing. There is plenty of space, although the fins could be trimmed back in the area where the outlet neck is.

I just put on my K&N FIPK, and I've got to say that moving from an air silencer delete to the FIPK is not only night and day, but the FIPK gets me even BETTER gas mileage.
