So my radiator fluid kept disappearing with no white smoke out the exhaust, clean oil (i.e. no brown milky liquid), and no leak signs on the ground. So I could only conclude it was being sucked into the intake and being burnt up (not to mention gas mileage of 15.2 mpg city). So I took two days working alone from 9am-4pm to get it done. Here are a few pics.
Lessons Learned:
1) Mechanic gloves would have been nice (wtf was I thinking?)
2) The two plastic elbows, one from the intake manifold to the heater core bypass piece and the other from the heater core bypass piece into the engine, BOTH broke and were stuck inside each end (had to use a screwdriver to pry out). Both were in a package at the auto store, LIFESAVER.
3) Two leftover bolts.... They were clean bolts so they weren't internal. Oh well!
4) One more leftover bolt for the drivers side bracket that holds the studs the coil packs connect too. I left this off because it was a PITA to get out and served no purpose since there are two other bolts holding it on.
5) A couple rubber vacuum connectors broke, busted the coolant temp. sensor. Careful with the plastic part, it was brittle.
That was about it. Got everything back together and it started fine. Then 4 blocks later..... cylinder misfire. No spark on number 4. Switched coils... SAME result. Concluded it was the ICM. 150 dollars later.... runs like a pro!
4 blocks AFTER that, turn on the air, horrible grinding noise/vibration when the compressor comes on. At this point I am feeling cursed. So anyways, new A/C compressor comes in this week and I swear if another thing goes wrong, I'm driving this car off a cliff (but there aren't any in FL, SCREWED AGAIN!).
Anyways, that's my story!
