Originally posted by whitdog54 View Postif your making every 3" then have 3" muffler as well. Your bottlenecking your exhaust. If your getting 2.5 inch muffler, then just get all 2.5" piping. id say all 3" or GTFO08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

Re: 3inch to 2.5 tips
It will make no difference. 3" into the muffler with 2.5" out is a common performance setup. The 3" in pipe has 7.06 square inches of flow area, the combined 2.5" output pipes have 9.8 square inches of flow area. So there is more output area than input as it is. Going to 3" output pipes will show no improvement in flow.

Go 2.5 inch, in a couple year you will be mad you did, especially if you have future mod plans. So far people with just full bolt-ons and people with FI are telling you to go all 3". your gonna get rasp no matter what with flowmaster especailly at WOT.Last edited by whitdog54; 02-18-2010, 09:09 AM.
