  • I'm in need of a mentor/help

Ok I have a 97 camaro 3.8L and it is 100% stock. I want to do my first mod was considering going cat-back exhaust but just can't afford that at the moment so I'm thinking about going with a cold air intake. I was looking at the K&N FIPK gen 2 and also the SLP cold air induction kit. I saw both of these on here but searched and said they are for a v8 will it be complicated getting it to fit on my car? I've even read I need a new hood(for ram air) and just don't want to spend close to $300 dollars and have a product I can't use or need to buy additional parts for. Please help if you can spare a few minutes!

Camaro hoods even with SS hood theres no roon to do a ram air, just on the Firebird hoods, Ebay has he cold air intakes for like $50 , that go into the fender well and would be your best choice money wise just buy a K&N airfilter for it if you want a better air filter. SLP and K&N FIPK are over rated and cost too much for the 95-97 Camaros. The 98+ have better intakes for flow with the lids so they would see the bigger differences. So just go for the cheaper fender intake for your 97 Camaro and if you want add a K&N filter if you want. Then save your money for your exhaust.

that one may work, but you should really look for one that is it routed like the first post in the following thread (third pic shows it):

        http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=66157

there's probably better pics of similar setups later in the thread, but you'll get an idea of how it should be routed. the one in the link you provided ends too early.

Will the one you are showing Italia last for awhile? I just know K&N is known for their reliability and it also would cost me about $150 more for the K&N. However I don't mind paying more money if the product is better and lasts me longer, but again if it is not necessary and can expect the same sound, performance, and reliability I'll definitely go with the one you are showing me Italia.

it should and if you don't like th filter just buy a K&N though from what I've heard any filter will do so long as they're kept clean/changed.
