Okay now to change the heads I have to remove both of them. When taking off the intake manifold do I have to relieve fuel pressure from anywhere? I guess what im asking is whats the hardes part about removing it? And as for the exaust manifold... do I have to take them completley off or can I just undo them from the heads and let them hang.... If I do so whats the easiest way to unbolt them? Would I have to get under the car or can I unbolt them from the top?

Re: Intake/Exaust Removal questions 3.4L
You can do everything for a head job from the top of the car. And just unbolt the manifolds and push them to each side out of your way. I would recommend soaking the manifold bolts with WD-40 and letting them set for a bit before you try to break the loose. As for the fuel pressure, all I did was bleed the pressure from the fuel rail, there is a connection that looks like the air connector on a bicycle tire. Just take the cap off and press the button in the middle of that, and after you do that, do not turn the key over or else you'll repressurize the system. But you should have the battery unhooked anyway by this time.

If you pressed it and it's not doing anything, then your good. I didn't disconnect my fuel lines. You can leave the lines hooked up to the fuel rail, and leave the injectors installed on the fuel rail, and just lay it out of the way while you do the rest of the work.

not trying to be a...meanie...but you seem to need alot of help on simple things. I would recruit some assistance from a knowledgeable source. If you have a friend that is mechanically inclined, have him/her help. Doing a head job requires alot of things to be just right, or you'll end up ruining the engine. Im not trying to degrade you or insult your talents or abilities, i just dont wanna see you end up with a lawn decoration.Team NoVa

Re: Intake/Exaust Removal questions 3.4L
aight well, to torque the manifold, do it like you would do the heads, start at the center bolt and work your way in a circle to the outer bolts. Im not sure about the particulars but if you have the quick connect fuel lines, then you will need a small tool that sells for $3 at your local parts store, ask them to show you if and what size you will need (my 3.8 used the 3/8 size) as for the throttle cables, there is a round cylinder attached to the end of the cable that holds it to your throttle plate. if you look towards the round end you will see a small slot. with your hand open the throttle. while holding it back grab the cable and pull it forward till the cable is even with the slot and slide it out...lemme know if that doesnt make sense and ill draw you a picture...Team NoVa

Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual. It will tell you the order to bolt things back together and the specific torque the bolts need. The manual will be your friend.
