  • Throwing Code P0420

    Hi,

About 6 months ago my original catalytic converter got clogged, and I ended up just gutting out the cat, and welding it shut so it would pass visual. To pass the computer, I plugged in an O2 sim.... now I was driving around tonight, and the SES light went on, I had a feeling it was my O2 sim, and upon plugging in the scanner, it picked up P0420 "catalyst below threshold bank 1" or something along those lines... so I'm guessing my O2 sim just went bad, or could this be something else?

your 02 sim went bad more then likely. Get under there and just check the wiring to make sure.

I had good results putting in a hi-flow cat and just moving the 02 sensor farther away to trick the computer. I know many people had success that way. Or pay to get the code deleted. Better then replacing sims and crap.
