  • Broken header bolt

Just found out that I have a header bolt broken in block. I have been reading on different ways to extract bolt, lots of work and they have told me to remove valve cover and drilling not going to happened.
Any ideas on how to remove bolt with out taken engine apart.... S.O.S

they have bolt extractor kits though they require a drill or something similar and idk if it would fit under there

easyist thing to do is just drop the motor out or pull the motor out the top, because your just going to get so stressed out trying to drill it out.[i helped take apart an lt1 to do a head gasket change and they striped a head bolt and the easyist thing to do was to take the engine out]

Is it broken off flush with the head? Or is the manifold/header still on? You could get lucky and pull the manifold and use a pair of vice grips on it.

perfect idea but make sure you get a good bite on the bolt the first try or your going to just strip it where it breaks apart

I've had to do it before. Its a pita, but it beats trying to drill it out.

Header bolts or studs? I had a stud break on me and I just used vice grips on it.

If you have enough room you can drill it out with an angle grinder and then use an extractor. Otherwise you'll probably have to pull the head.
